Ah sweet sentimental sounds... wasn't it just like that?
With their song "Indie Disco" the Irish band The Divine Comedy evoke wonderful memories for me of "our regular nights" at Kaiserkeller and Kir in Hamburg and at Visage in Orlando (and never finding anything like that again in Gainesville, Tallahassee, New York or Berlin - probably an age thing more than anything).
I think it's a fitting video as well, with all the right elements (simple, whimsical, geometric, black+white faces, color overlay, lettering, etc.) - except maybe for the dancing girl's outfit (wrong era, but matching the look of some album cover art of the Indie Disco days).
For some reason this song makes me think of a fantastic song from a few years ago: "I'm Losing My Edge" by LCD Soundsystem. Different sentiment - but maybe a progression of sorts.
