East Side Gallery (The Wall Art) - In A Berlin Minute (Week 95)

This 1-minute video is only intended to give a quick impression of the East Side Gallery - an outdoor gallery of 105 official images painted on a 1.3 km section of the Berlin Wall in Friedrichshain.

If you want to look at an image for longer or read a slogan, just pause the video. Also I'll be uploading more images to my Flickr page soon.

East Side Gallery (The Wall Art) - In A Berlin Minute (Week 95) from Luci Westphal on Vimeo.

The East Side Gallery was first created in 1990, shortly after the wall became open. Many of the pieces were restored in 2009 in time for the 20-year anniversary of the opening of the wall.

On the back side of the wall (facing the river Spree) graffiti artists have left their own unofficial mark.

As you can see from this video, I'm currently back in Berlin - but only for a short spell. Among other things I'm here to spend time with my family, mainly with my mother who is currently in Berlin as well and is featured walking through this video.

The music featured is the song "Destiny" by Jason Matherne.

Ko Samet + Bangkok - In A Berlin Minute (Week 94)

During my second week in Thailand I got to relax on the island Ko Samet and explore Bangkok. Big highlight were the elephants on the beach of Rayong - before we took the ferry to Ko Samet (aka Koh Samed).

This 1-minute video is, of course, too short to show everything I saw and even recorded. So there'll be a longer version soon on

For now, please enjoy quick glimpses of the beach, the fresh fruits, Thai Roti at tricycle bar, Jess and Kaitlyn, the boats, the lizards and dogs and elephants, the fire dancers, the mermaid... and in Bangkok more boats, Wat Phra Kaew (the temple at the Royal Grand Palace), the big reclining Buddha at Wat Pho, and last but not least the food carts, vendors, Thai massage and tourists on Khao San Road.

The music is a mix of things found on Soundtrack Pro.

Chiang Mai + Doi Inthanon, Thailand - In A Brooklyn Minute (Week 93)

On my first trip to Asia I'm visiting my friend Jessica in Chiang Mai, a lovely city in the North of Thailand - full of temples, monks, street food, flowers and all kinds of different motor vehicles.

From Chiang Mai I also visited the temple on Doi Suthep and took a day trip up to the top of Doi Inthanon, the highest peak of Thailand - where I saw waterfalls, a hill tribe village (purchased handmade scarf for the cold winter I'll return to too soon), memorials to an old king and temples for the current king and queen.

While here I was also able to screen All God's Children and record an interview for Five Sisters. About both I would like to write more at another time.

I've already spent too much of this cherished time in Thailand editing this video, so I'll skip a longer description and head back out to enjoy Chiang Mai some more before leaving for the beach and Bangkok tomorrow.

If you'd like, check my Flickr page for photos from this trip.

The song in the background is a Piphat performed at Wat Khung Taphao Ban Khung Taphao and published by Tevaprapas Makklay.

Thailand Instagram Pictures

Some of you may have wondered why there hasn't been a Music Monday post or anything else - or why I've been mostly absent from YouTube and the other pages where I usually communicate.

Well, I'm on an amazing trip to Thailand to visit a friend, by chance connect with other friends and family, to screen All God's Children and film an interview for Five Sisters. It's my first trip to Asia and it's been absolutely amazing.

Here are a few Instagram photos:

10 Brooklyn Facts - In A Brooklyn Minute (Week 92)

Ten facts about Brooklyn - interesting, odd, fun, historic and even surprising. Some of the facts are reasons why I love the borough of Brooklyn so much - and why some of us when we are asked while traveling where we're from say "Brooklyn" and not "New York City".

Possibly one of the facts is a bit subjective... But I haven't found anyone yet who disagreed.

Do you have any interesting Brooklyn facts to share?

The song is called "Whirlwind Romance" by Jason Matherne (aka I found the title of his song just as fitting as the music itself.
